Chadi Aoun wins Meritorious Teaching Award

Chadi Aoun, associate teaching professor of information systems, received the Meritorious Teaching Award at the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2018.

Each year, the graduation class nominates faculty members who have demonstrated excellence in teaching. The award is then decided upon by a selection committee. The award was announced at the ceremony and presented by Michael Trick, dean of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.

“I am happy and honored to receive this award” said Aoun. “It is truly humbling that I was selected, given the breadth of talented and dedicated faculty at CMU-Q.”

Aoun, who joined the CMU-Q campus in 2015, is an internationally recognized expert in sustainability and green information systems. He has been a co-organizer for two multi-disciplinary academic trips in which students explored sustainable living in Sydney, Australia and Singapore.

Aoun holds a PhD in information systems from the University of New South Wales, along with academic qualifications in business, education, and environmental science. Before coming to CMU-Q, he held academic positions at the University of Technology Sydney, Macquarie University, and the University of Sydney.
