Students have many opportunities to learn about the world outside of Qatar. Most students engage in cross cultural learning through travel experiences like Global Learning Trips, study abroad and campus exchange.

Global Learning Trips

Global Learning Trips are organized and led by faculty or staff members, and focus on topics that will expand students’ horizons. During academic breaks, these trips encourage students to see the world in a new way, expand their personal and professional goals, engage in experiential learning, and share their takeaways with the CMU-Q community.

Study Abroad

Nearly half of CMU-Q students spend a semester abroad, with most choosing to study at the home campus in Pittsburgh. This is a one-semester opportunity for students to challenge themselves academically, explore broad interests, as well as experience life in a different global community.

Summer Learning Experiences

During the summer, there are many opportunities for students to gain international research or internship experiences, and sometimes course credit, through international learning experiences. These range from two weeks to two months, allowing students to immerse themselves in academic exploration, cross-cultural learning and a new city.
