The state of Qatar has over the past years opened its market to foreigners; new entrepreneurs are being nurtured, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) are springing up day in and day out, business experts and investors are looking for various opportunities available to facilitate their decisions to perform businesses in Qatar. Qatar’s rapid economic growth and the quest to advance information technology in all the sectors of the economy will require the study or research on the integration and implementation of ICT in Small and Medium Enterprises. Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) are the engine for economic growth; and a research in this area will boost confidence in entrepreneurs and investors. It will inform existing Small and Businesses Enterprises in Qatar (SME) to take advantage of the resources offered by the state in promoting ICT in their businesses. We are interested in studying the adoption rate of ICT technology in small to medium enterprises in Qatar. We furthermore want to understanding if ICT technology helps these SMEs become more competitive or otherwise benefit economically. As part of the study, we will see what government programs support SMEs and their adoption of ICT; we will furthermore see if there are rules and regulations that impede adoption of ICT. Below are some of the questions the research seeks to provide succinct answers for: 1. What are the current state, integration and implementation of ICT in Qatar's SME's? 2. What opportunities have been established by appropriate authorities which SME's can tap into? 3. Do existing SME's know about the integration of ICT in their businesses? 4. What are the Loan facilities or grants made available for ICT integration and implementation in Small and Medium Enterprises? 5. What are some of the strategies implemented by North America, Europe, other Gulf countries (such as Dubai) and Africa?
