CMU-Q students embarked on learning trips around the world over spring break, including destinations in North America and Europe.
The largest contingent traveled to Silicon Valley with Maher Hakim, associate teaching professor of entrepreneurship, for an exploration of high tech companies. The group included 20 students from CMU-Q, seven from Texas A&M at Qatar and three from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar.
Building on coursework in Arabic and Spanish, Zeinab Ibrahim, teaching professor of Arabic Studies, and Erik Helin, special lecturer, Spanish, took 18 students to Andalucía, Spain, to learn about the region's Arab heritage.
The top two teams from February’s Trading Hackathon traveled to New York City for a firsthand look at the New York Stock Exchange. The students were accompanied by John O’Brien, associate dean, and Fuad Farooqi, assistant teaching professor of finance.
A group of 13 students were selected as this year’s IMPAQT representatives, traveling to Pittsburgh with Kevin D’Arco, director of student activities, to learn more about the main campus.
Jumana Al Abdi, director of personal development and counseling services, took a group of female students to Washington, DC, as part of the women’s leadership program.
Chadi Aoun, associate teaching professor of information systems, accompanied a group of students to Pittsburgh to present their research at the sixth annual Undergraduate Conference in Information Systems.
