Avni Pherwani, a member of the Class of 2018 at CMU-Q, won the 2018 UM-Dearborn Business Idea Pitch Competition at the University of Michigan. She and her teammate, Robert Ervin, a student at University of Michigan, were selected from a pool of 100 participants and more than 50 ideas.

Pherwani will graduate from CMU-Q’s Information Systems Program at the end of April. She is spending her last semester abroad at the University of Michigan.

Pherwani and Ervin’s winning idea, 360-Review, is a web application that runs sentiment analysis on online reviews of restaurants on websites like Yelp, Google and Zomato. Using big data analysis, their web app provides recommendations to restaurant owners for areas to improve, based on the feedback customers are giving.
