CMU-Q alumni honored at QF Annual Alumni Forum

QF 2025 Alumni Awards

Summary

CMU-Q alums Abdulrahman Al-Subaiey and Asma Aljefairi (both Class of 2017) received the Rising Star Award and Mentorship Award, respectively, at the inaugural QF Alumni Awards during the 2025 QF Annual Alumni Forum.

DOHA, QATAR – Two graduates from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, were honored at the inaugural QF Alumni Awards. The ceremony was part of the Qatar Foundation Annual Alumni Forum 2025.

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, attended the forum and presented the awards to the recipients.

The two CMU-Q alumni, both from the Class of 2017, were recognized for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the community.

Abdulrahman Al-Subaiey (BS 2017) received the Rising Star Award, which is presented to junior graduates who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and promise. Al-Subaiey is a postdoctoral fellow at Sidra Medicine and the co-founder of Blumen.

Asma Aljefairi (BA 2017) received the Mentorship Award, which honors alumni who have provided outstanding guidance, support, and mentorship to others. Aljefairi serves as the director of digital experience at Qatar Museums.

More than 1,450 people have completed their studies at CMU-Q and are now pursuing careers in a myriad of different fields. Most CMU-Q alumni stay in Qatar to contribute to the knowledge economy.
