Alumni gather to meet new CMU-Q dean
More than 60 CMU-Q alumni members gathered to meet the new dean of Carnegie Mellon Qatar, Michael Trick. The event was also an opportunity for Carnegie Mellon leadership, including interim provost Laurie Weingart, vice president and general counsel Mary Jo Dively, and Duane Seppi, The BNY Mellon Professor of Finance, to interact with alumni and learn more about their journeys after graduation.
Twelve members of the CMU-Q faculty also attended the event to reconnect with their former students.
Michael Trick, who was appointed dean of CMU-Q in September 2017, remarked to the alumni, “Since I joined the Qatar campus, I have been struck by how engaged our alumni are with the university. You set an excellent example for our students, demonstrating how you can use your talents and experience to give back to the university.”
Graduates represented the programs of biological sciences, business administration, computer science and information systems. The next alumni event will be the Alumni Senior Social, which introduces the Class of 2018 to their fellow alums.
