Dean recognizes staff excellence with Charles E. Thorpe Awards

Dean Baybars recognized the significant contributions of CMU-Q staff at the annual Charles E. Thorpe Awards on April 19. Named after the inaugural dean of CMU-Q, the awards fall into five categories of achievement.

“The staff of CMU-Q is particularly talented and dedicated, and the Charles E. Thorpe Awards are an opportunity to recognize that service and excellence,” said Ilker Baybars, dean and CEO of CMU-Q.

This year’s winners are: Hope Rodefer, Outstanding Service to Students; Kural Singaravelu, Outstanding Newcomer; Shamila Abdul Khader, Outstanding Innovation; Nancy Lacson, Outstanding Dedication to the University; and Maria Georges, Outstanding Commitment to the Community.

Service awards were also given out at the ceremony. There were eleven recipients of the Five-Year Service Awards: Dalia Atef Rehal, Mohamed Tarek Abdellatif, Maha Kamel Kanso, Muhammad Fawad Alam, Maria John Georges, Maria Victoria Navarro, Sam Abraham, Mohammad Shayan NoorMohamed, Shazia Haq, Supriya H. Prasad Sinha and Sindu Velsar.

Two employees received Ten-Year Service Awards: Aaron Lyvers and Dina Al Baradee.
