CMU-Q student wins Honorable Mention at EurasiaMUN

Carnegie Mellon Qatar student Umair Qazi won the Honorable Mention award for his work as the delegation of Brazil at the 2016 Eurasia Model United Nations Conference (EurasiaMUN) in Passau, Germany. Qazi and fellow students Avni Pherwani, Sanjeet Sahni, Bisma Munawar and Farha Khan are on the first CMU-Q team to participate in an international model UN conference.

EurasiaMUN is an international conference where participants create an academic simulation of the United Nations. The conference is an opportunity for university students to learn about current events, international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda.

"Travelling to Germany and attending the conference with talented people from all around the world was a special experience,” said Sanjeet Sahni, a rising senior in the Business Administration program. “We are happy with our performance and proud that we were able to represent Carnegie Mellon well on an international platform."

CMU-Q has had an active model UN club for three years, and has hosted two high school conferences.
