CMU-Q library director leads expert panel discussion on future of AI in libraries
CMU-Q’s Tatiana Usova, director of the library, moderated a panel discussion on the future of AI in libraries at the Northwestern University in Qatar’s symposium, “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Libraries and Librarianship.”
The panel addressed the transformation of libraries through AI, including enhancements to information access and innovations in digital preservation. Discussion points encompassed AI-driven natural language processing (NLP), machine learning applications, policy development, and library-led AI literacy initiatives.
AI was invented at Carnegie Mellon University more than 50 years ago, and CMU continues to be at the forefront of AI research. The Qatar campus has always had a strong focus on AI. Usova’s team in the CMU-Q library are integral to the exploration, research, and knowledge-sharing of AI tools that enhance learning and discovery.
