Biography
Madhavi Ganapathiraju is a visiting associate teaching professor at CMU-Q, teaching courses and mentoring students in research in the areas of computational biology and computer science. She is an associate professor at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and School of Computing and Information, where she holds faculty appointments in the Biomedical Informatics Training Program, Intelligent Systems Program, Integrated Systems Biology Program, and Joint CMU-Pitt Ph.D. Program in Computational Biology. She is adjunct faculty at CMU Language Technologies Institute. She has guided over 100 students in research, including medical, graduate, undergraduate and high school students, more than 50% of whom were women.

Research Description
Professor Ganapathiraju's research is focused on the discovery of protein-protein interactions which in computing world is akin to discovering edges in the social network of proteins. Her research, which falls in the broad area of translational bioinformatics, contributes to the discovery of mechanisms of diseases and the advancement of biomedical science.
