DOHA, QATAR — Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) hosted its annual Internship Showcase, bringing together students, faculty, and industry leaders to celebrate student achievements across summer internships and research experiences. CMU-Q is a Qatar Foundation partner university.

Organized by Career Services, the showcase featured eight student presentations reflecting a vast spectrum of industries and geographical locations. Student experiences ranged from local research centers and government innovation hubs in Qatar to fast-growing technology startups in Seoul, South Korea.

The showcase provided a networking platform for companies to engage directly with emerging talent. Participating organizations included: Apex Health, Avey, Cisco, Doha Bank, Estithmar Holding, Hilton Doha, Human Capital, KPMG, Mannai Corporation QPSC, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Oryx GTL, Parsons International Limited, Qai, Qatalum, Qatar Chemical Company, Qatar Science and Technology Park, QC+, QIC digital hub, Snoonu, and UBS.

Experiential learning is a cornerstone of the educational experience at CMU-Q. The university guides and encourages students to step beyond the classroom, applying theoretical knowledge to solve real-world challenges in professional settings. This emphasis on hands-on application yields consistent, high-impact participation across all disciplines, with nearly three-quarters of all CMU-Q students completing at least one formal internship during their undergraduate years.

This rigorous practical preparation directly translates into career success. Graduates from CMU-Q are highly sought after by national, regional and multinational employers. Tracking data from recent graduating classes underscores this strong market demand, showing that about 95 percent of graduates seeking employment are employed within one year of graduation, with over 93 percent staying to contribute directly to Qatar’s growing economy.
