CMU-Q and UCL Qatar host international summit on research-based practice in libraries

Leading library scholars from around the world convened in Education City on April 3 and 4 for the Research-Based Practice in Libraries Summit. The event, which was sponsored through Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), featured presentations and workshops on publishing research, winning grants and research methods. The summit was organized by Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) in partnership with UCL Qatar.

More than 60 library professionals from Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia attended to listen to leading library and information scholars, including Helen Partridge, pro vice-chancellor of scholarly information and learning services at the University of Southern Queensland, and Ross Todd, associate professor, School of Communication, Rutgers University.

The summit was organized to encourage and inspire librarians in Qatar and the region to adapt a practitioner-researcher approach and use the evidence gained to improve library services to schools, universities and the public.
