Carnegie Mellon’s American Brass Ensemble to perform in Qatar

DOHA, QATAR – Having played concerts from the Atlantic Ocean to the Caspian Sea, the C Street Brass ensemble from the Carnegie Mellon School of Music has dazzled audiences all over the world.

The unique musical group will be touring Doha this week with performances at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and Al Mirqab Boutique Hotel, Souq Waqif.

C Street Brass was founded in 2007 and has recently been appointed Ensemble in Residence at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA.

The brass quintet has received high acclaim from world-renowned musicians such as Wynton Marsalis (who inaugurated Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha in the St. Regis Hotel), Chris Botti, and Eric Ewazen.

Their music draws from classical pops, contemporary music, as well as unique transcriptions from all genres. Putting a “premium on concert presentation,” C Street is devoted to bridging the division between performer and audience, which they achieve through incorporating entertaining visuals into the music.

The group comprises two trumpeters – Kyle Anderson and Scott Nadelson; two trombonists – Gabriel

Colby and Hakeem Bilal; and Eric Damashek on the horn.

On Tuesday, the ensemble will play two forty-five minute sets outside the Al Mirqab Boutique Hotel at Souq Waqif beginning at 7:30 p.m. This will be followed by a free performance on Thursday evening at 6 p.m., with a reception at 5:30 p.m., at the Carnegie Mellon Qatar campus.

Abdo Kayali, Group Director of Sales and Marketing, Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels commented on the upcoming evening of music.

“We are excited to have C Street Brass perform at The Al Terrace Lebanese Lounge at Al Mirqab Boutique Hotel – this is a truly international band, praised by world-renowned music legends like Chris Botti and Wynton Marsalis, coming all the way to Qatar to share their musical talent with our guests, as well as visitors to the Souq. We look forward to hosting this world class talent which when coupled with our five-star, authentic Qatari hospitality, will provide a unique experience that is characteristic of Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels,” Kayali said.

A commercial recording of C Street Brass will be released soon. Their music is also available for streaming on their website – http://www.cstreetbrass.com.
