CMU-Q celebrated the hard work, dedication to community and academic achievement of members of the Class of 2016 at a ceremony and lunch on April 28, 2016. Thirty-one students were recognized for academic awards, including those who have earned College Honors, University Honors, and Phi Kappa Phi. College Honors are awarded to those who meet the criteria for their college’s thesis requirements; University Honors are awarded to students with a 3.5 cumulative QPA after seven or eight semesters; and Phi Kappa Phi is awarded to students with a 3.8 QPA or are in the top 10 percent of their class at the end of their junior year.
The four Qatar Campus Scholars were also recognized for exemplifying academic excellence both inside and outside the classroom: Aya Hassan Ali Abd Elaal, Hamad Gabr F M Al-Noaimi, Sana Zeenal Britto and Dana Abdulrahman Al-Muftah. Sana Zeenal Britto is the Andrew Carnegie Scholar representing the CMU-Q Class of 2016.
Fifteen students were acknowledged for extraordinary leadership and making substantial contributions to the community during their time at CMU-Q. Four of those students received the Senior Student Leadership with distinction award: Fatima Emran Amir, Tehseen Niaz, Narjis Fatima Premjee, and Bilal Anwer Sheikh.
