CMU-Q wins Microsoft Imagine Cup for second year in a row

Team Buzzcast from CMU-Q won Microsoft Imagine Cup 2016 in the World Citizenship category. The competition challenged teams aged 16 to 26 years to develop innovative projects and present solutions to real world problems. Six teams were shortlisted to compete for the national title on April 25 in Doha.

Team Buzzcast was made up of CMU-Q students Yousuf Akhlaq, Yasser El-Sayed, Musab Popatia and Mohammed Fituri, under the mentorship of Maher Hakim, associate teaching professor of entrepreneurship. They also won Student Choice award based on an audience vote.

The team will represent Qatar in the Pan-Arab Finals in Cairo next month. This is the second year in a row that CMU-Q takes the Microsoft Imagine Cup championship in the World Citizenship category.
