Muneera Al-Baker, a 2024 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), has received the Platinum Education Excellence Award in the University Student category from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. CMU-Q is a Qatar Foundation partner university.
Al-Baker, who earned a degree in information systems with university honors, is a four-time recipient of the Education Excellence Award. She also earned the Qatar Foundation (QF) Excellence Award at the QF Convocation ceremony, presented by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
“Professor Ezzohra Moufid, as my advisor, played a crucial role in guiding me throughout my journey, and I will always be thankful for her mentorship and encouragement,” said Al-Baker. “I deeply appreciate the assistance of all the faculty members who took the time to provide recommendations and necessary documents whenever I reached out. Their support, encouragement, and belief in my potential played a significant role in this achievement.”
During her time at CMU-Q, Al-Baker distinguished herself as a student leader. She served as president of the Qatar Students Association at CMU-Q from 2022 to 2024, leading initiatives such as the “World Coins Exhibition” and “A Night of Qatari Arts.”
Al-Baker also represented Qatar at global forums, including COP28 in the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf Sciences Forum in Oman, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia and the ECOSOC Youth Forum at the United Nations in New York.
“Muneera is the embodiment of a Tartan,” said Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q. “She was a dedicated student and an enthusiastic, engaged and thoughtful member of our community. On behalf of the entire CMU-Q community, I offer my warmest congratulations to Muneera on a truly well-earned award.”
