Get Involved

When classes are over, there is still so much to do at CMU-Q. Student-led clubs, community events, and volunteer opportunities bring you closer to your classmates, develop your skills and expand your horizons.

Cohort-Building Experiences

Student Affairs organizes weekend and break-week experiences for the four classes so students can build connections both on and off campus. Favorites have included kayaking excursions, the senior dhow cruise, movie night, and ice skating.

Student Majlis

Student Government

Student Majlis is CMU-Q’s student government body, and elections take place each year. The Majlis executive members are a critical liaison between the students and faculty and staff. They represent the student body, advocate for their needs and interests, and improve the student experience. Being part of Student Majlis is an excellent opportunity for students to learn key leadership skills like collaboration, organization and advocacy.

Student-Led Clubs

Each year, students form dozens of recognized, student-government funded clubs that cater to a wide range of interests. Some clubs are academic-centred, where students delve deeper into topics they learn in class. Others are purely recreational, including clubs for sports, special interests, and community service. Clubs shift every year as students share their talents, interests and enthusiasm with their classmates.

Clubs and Organizations
Events

Signature Events

Each year, the CMU-Q building is the backdrop for hundreds of events, big and small. Some perennial favorites are Tarnival, Tartans Got Talent, Backyard Battles, and International Night. Many students participate in organizing these events, building their resumes and learning how to navigate complex organizational challenges.

Civic and Community Engagement

Students help to shape key aspects of how CMU-Q operates in many crucial ways. Particularly in the areas of sustainability, health, and community excellence, student advocates work with faculty and staff to ensure the campus reaches its strategic goals.
