Alumnae recognized by Amir for academic excellence

Three alumnae from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar received gold medals from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the 12th Education Excellence Day Award ceremony. All three women graduated from the Information Systems Program: Roda Al-Hor in 2017, and Maryam Al-Naemi and Latifa Khalid Al Thani in 2018.

The Education Excellence Awards are the most prestigious academic and scientific award in Qatar.

Michael Trick, dean of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, noted: “Each year, the Education Excellence Awards recognize young Qataris who are embracing their educational opportunities, excelling in their studies, and preparing to contribute to the progress of Qatar. We are very pleased to see His Highness the Amir and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education recognize the hard work and talent of these three graduates.”

The Education Excellence Award is given to students who have demonstrated achievement in the classroom and passed a rigorous interview process. Winners are also judged on their community involvement, extracurricular activities and leadership roles.

With eleven graduating classes, nearly 800 young professionals have graduated from CMU-Q. Today they work in top organizations within Qatar and around the world.
