Over one hundred students are named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 term

Five students from the recently-launched Biological Sciences major have been recognized

DOHA, QATAR – After excelling in the classroom during the fall 2011 term, 103 students, including five students from the recently-launched biological sciences major, have been named to the Dean’s List at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.

Only top-ranking students are named to the Dean’s List each semester, which recognizes students for academic excellence.

“I would like to congratulate each of the students who have earned a place on the Dean’s List for their outstanding academic achievements during the fall semester. These students have distinguished themselves through their academic excellence and strong work ethic. We are proud of them and their accomplishments,” said Ilker Baybars, dean of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.

There were 30 seniors, 32 juniors, 20 sophomores and 21 freshmen who made the list, with 60 percent studying business administration, 19 percent studying information systems and 16 percent studying computer science. Also making the list were five juniors studying biological sciences, the new undergraduate degree offered in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar.

Senior business administration students given these honors are: Sara Abbas, Edmond Saleh Abi, Rand Aga, Rawan Agha, Saad Ahmed, Belal Al Kadhi, Hind Al Khulaifi, Mohammed Al Saad, Maryam Al-Buhendi, Aisha Al-Hail, Sarah Allouba, Amna Al-Mazroei, Issa Al-Sheeb, Abdallah Darwish, Aliah Dehdary, Mohammad Dualeh, Omar El Zoheery, Saoud Faiadh, Marie-Joe Germanos Kharchan, Layal Hasan, Mohammed Hussain, Batoul Khalife and Fatima Nadeem. Senior Dania Rabbou Abed made the list for computer science. Senior information systems students: Yazan Abu Hijleh, Amal Alamri, Rashed Al-Kaabi, Ghanim Al-Sulati, Asma Hamid and Allan Reeves.

Junior Business Administration students are: Muhammad Abbasi, Mohammed Al Ahmadani, Abdullrahman Al Muftah, Khadejah Al-Husseiny, Fatima Al-Khayat, Aljawhra Al-Mana, Hamsa Al-Massri, Mohammed Al-Rawahi, Ahmad Al-Sarraf, Maryam Al-Subaie, Maryam Al-Thani, Aisha Al-Zaman, Nahan Arif, Shivani Arora, Ali Walied El Hag, El Houssain El Marabti, Amel Osman and Patrick Steinhagen. Junior computer science students are: Manoj Dareddy, Anas Halbawi and Mohamed Soudy. Junior information systems students are: Fatema Akbar, Reham Al Tamime, Nur Aysha Anggraini, Nabeeha Haque, Humaira Tasnim and Abhay Valiyaveettil. Junior biological sciences students are: Hiba Al-Ashtal, Mei Elgindi, Hadya Elshakh, Raji Katibe and Mohammad Younes, all of whom transferred into the recently-launched major in the fall.

Sophomore business administration students are: Rafay Abbasi, Mohammed Al Thani, Syed Haider, Narjes Jafarian, Nada Salem, Rama Sbei, Saba Singh, Ian Skjervem and Haider Zali. Sophomore computer science students are: Fahim Dalvi, Kenrick Fernandes, Syed Moosavi, Jyda Moussa, Shaileja Harendra Relwani and Baljit Singh. Sophomore information systems students are: Hawra Abdulla, Daniel Cheweiky, Afrah Hassan, Sarah Mustafa, Muhammad Polin and Haya Thowfeek.

Freshman business administration students are: Omar Abou Selo, Noor-Ul-Huda Admaney, Mohammed Al-Ansari, Tarek Al-Hariri, Lana Al-Kahala, Mohammed Al-Matwi, Faisal Al-Thani, Ma. Francine Dinglasan, Tanzeel Huda, Elie Mansour, Amalan Roshan and Akhmed Sungurov. Freshman computer science students are: Ghaya Al-Sulati, Afrozul Aziz, Sabih Bin Wasi, Fathima Mulaffer, Arun Pandian, Lakshmi Prakash and Mohammad Zafar. Freshman information systems students are: Nihal Fathima, Sama Kanbour and Omar Shamiyeh.
