General Education courses
Carnegie Mellon University follows a distinct approach to undergraduate education that combines professional training with a firm grounding in the arts and sciences. Students who have a strong foundation in the arts and sciences learn how to draw connections between disciplines and work effectively outside their focused area of study.
General Education courses are offered by faculty members in the Arts and Sciences. The courses cover a wide range of academic areas, both mandatory and elective, including Arabic studies, chemistry, design, English, history, math and physics.
