Hungarian Ambassador visits student presentation

His Excellency István Elter, the Hungarian Ambassador to the State of Qatar, visited Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar as a special guest for a presentation on Hungary’s business culture.

Business administration students Ibrahim Soltan and Sherif Rizk are both studying cross-cultural business communications. As part of a project, the students conducted first-person interviews with Elter. Using Hofstede’s dimensions theory as a cultural guide, Soltan and Rizk analyzed and recommended various business practices that would be in line with the country’s culture.

The cross-cultural business communication course is offered every other fall semester by Patrick McGinnis to provide students with the framework for how to think about culture as they become business leaders.
