Dudley Reynolds addresses TESOL Arabia

Dudley Reynolds delivered the opening plenary at the TESOL Arabia conference in Dubai last weekend, as well as sessions in research literacy, reading strategically and educational leadership. The TESOL Arabia Conference and Exhibition is the largest event of its type in the region, with more than 450 concurrent sessions.

Reynolds, who is a teaching professor of English at CMU-Q, is wrapping up his year-long term as president of TESOL International Association.

“One of the lasting myths about teaching English to speakers of other languages is that native speakers have an advantage. Native speakers are not necessarily the best teachers to those learning English. They have not had to go through the process of learning the language,” says Reynolds.

TESOL International Association represents a network of more than 60,000 English language teaching professionals worldwide. During his tenure as president, Reynolds has travelled to four continents and presided over the Summit on the Future of the TESOL Profession in Athens, Greece.
