CMU-Q finance experts share knowledge with Qatar investment community
Faculty members in CMU-Q’s Business Administration Program are sharing their in-depth knowledge of investing and financial markets with the Qatar community.
In June, the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) invited John O’Brien and Fuad Farooqi to lead a webinar session on portfolio diversification. O’Brien is CMU-Q’s senior associate dean for faculty and outreach and an associate professor of accounting and experimental economics. Farooqi is the area head for business administration and an associate teaching professor of finance.
More than 100 members of the community joined the webinar. Based on questions that arose during the discussion, the Qatar Stock Exchange asked CMU-Q to deliver a second session on how behavioral biases affect investors. Agustín Indaco, assistant teaching professor of economics, led the session.
CMU-Q and the Qatar Stock Exchange entered into a Memorandum of Understanding in 2015, and continue to work closely together. During the partnership, QSE has provided several learning opportunities for students, including sponsoring business competitions that encourage the exploration of markets and investing. CMU-Q’s faculty members provide insight and knowledge about financial markets, financial technology, economics and other specialized areas to the QSE and their community of investors.
