CMU-Q Class of 2012 celebrates 5 year reunion

The Class of 2012 celebrated their five-reunion with classmates, faculty and members of the Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar leadership.

Mohammed Fahad Kamal, a member of the Class of 2012 who is now head of performance management at Qatar Petroleum, addressed his fellow graduates about the impact of the CMU-Q experience: “I miss CMU’s challenging learning environment that pushed everyone to their limits, and most importantly I miss the people I was surrounded by.”

The Class of 2012 was comprised of 61 students from the original three program offerings at CMU-Q: business administration, computer science and information systems. Today, they work in organizations on three continents, including Microsoft, General Electric, Commercial Bank of Qatar, Qatar Gas and Amazon. Most graduates from the Class of 2012 now work in Doha.

Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, greeted members of the class at the celebration: “You were the last of CMU-Q pioneers: when you started at CMU-Q in August 2007, our first class had not yet graduated. Thank you for blazing the trail and showing us how Carnegie Mellon graduates can shape Qatar.”
