Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, and Mada – Assistive Technology Center Qatar, joined in a formal partnership in 2019 to promote research and education in the area of digital access and inclusion.

Together, CMU-Q and Mada Center have created a course for students called “A Web for Everyone,” to provide a deeper understanding of the concepts and standards of digital inclusion. Many people encounter obstacles and challenges when using electronic platforms, websites and digital content, particularly those with physical disabilities, functional limitations, or the elderly with limited digital experience. The course includes an introduction to accessible web design, assistive technologies, and best practices.

Mada – Assistive Technology Center Qatar was founded in 2010 to promote digital inclusion and build a technology-based community that meets the needs of persons with functional limitations, persons with disabilities, and the elderly in Qatar. Today, Mada is the world’s center of excellence in digital access in Arabic.
