Rashid Ali Al-Mansoori, CEO of Qatar Stock Exchange will be speaking at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar as part of the Dean’s Lecture Series on, ‘The role a stock exchange plays in economic growth and sustainable development.’

The Dean’s Lecture Series is the principal forum for eminent industry practitioners and government officials to bring their knowledge and perspectives to Carnegie Mellon, and to broaden students’ understanding of important issues.

Biography:

Mr. Rashid Al Mansoori is the current CEO and a board member of Qatar Stock Exchange. He is also a board member of Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), the Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), and the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).

Through his leadership, the QSE has and continues to pursue an aggressive agenda to enhance and promote the Capital Markets in the State of Qatar by actively pressing government and regulatory agencies to streamline the legislative and regulatory framework for the benefit of the investment community and the country whole. During his tenure, he has overseen the upgrade of Qatar to emerging market status by MSCI and to secondary emerging market status by FTSE Russell. He champions Qatar as an investment destination of choice in the region through the instigation of and involvement in numerous international roadshows and sponsored events. He continues to lead the implementation of extensive education programmes to boost staff skills and performance, and has overseen improvements in both efficiency and quality of delivery across all units of the company. He has been a strong advocate for the building of awareness within the local investor community of products and services offered by the Exchange and has commissioned and has led and supported numerous events and activities in support of this aim. He continues to provide leadership and support to numerous programmes to encourage the adoption of effective corporate governance and the creation of investor relations functions within both prospective and existing listed companies.

Mr. Al Mansoori has extensive administrative and technical experience gained from the senior roles he has held in a number of companies and institutions and has led and successfully completed initiatives and projects in various industries.

Mr. Al Mansoori served in the field of financial management at QP for 5 years and worked as IT Director at the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) where he was responsible for establishing the IT department and managing investment and financial applications. He also served as the IT Director for the Qatar Olympics Committee and was Head of Applied Systems at the Ministry of Interior.

Mr. Al Mansoori has specialist knowledge and expertise in the fields of administration, IT and financial services, and has held senior posts in the field of sports, including heading numerous initiatives in the Qatari Olympic Committee and serving as Chairman and CEO of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, Vice Chairman of the Qatar Fencing Federation, and Board a member of Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation.
