Maria Victoria Navarro was born and educated in the Philippines. Her laboratory career started in 2000 at a petrochemical company. She moved to Qatar in 2003 and gained more advanced knowledge in laboratory analysis, instrumentation and safety when she worked at Schlumberger Overseas Ltd. She joined Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar in 2011 to support the new Biological Sciences program by setting up and organizing the chemistry and biology laboratories. As laboratory manager, she ensures that all chemicals are properly organized, stored and inventoried, oversees the maintenance of chemistry instrumentation and overall lab safety protocols, and supports the chemistry lab courses with regards to chemical preparation and instrument analysis.
