Lujain Al Mansoori: A journey of innovation

Lujain Al Mansoori’s story is one of entrepreneurship and hard work. As an Information Systems student at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), she has distinguished herself through academic excellence and a commitment to innovation.

“My journey at CMU has shaped who I am,” she reflects. “It helped me develop skills I always wanted, and offered countless opportunities to grow and build meaningful connections.”

During her time at CMU-Q, Lujain earned many recognitions, including Qatar Campus Scholar, University Honors and College Honors. But beyond accolades, she takes pride in her mindset. “I’m proud of turning challenges into opportunities. A positive mindset is key to navigating life in a healthy way.”

For Lujain, entrepreneurship has become a passion. She co-founded a start-up for wearable cooling devices for outdoor workers in the Gulf. As part of a summer course, she traveled to Portugal for the European Innovation Academy where she and her team further developed the prototype. Their work earned the team a top ten place at the academy.

“The European Innovation Academy was an intense, three-week sprint working with students from around the world,” she said. “The idea we developed would improve quality of life for many people here in Qatar, especially for outdoor workers. The goal is to make their challenging conditions more comfortable through accessible technology.”

As she begins her career, Lujain is resolved to give back to her home country. “Qatar has given me so much in terms of education and support. I feel a duty to give back by uplifting others and creating learning opportunities.”
