Gary Fedder discusses power of customization

Gary Fedder, vice provost for research at Carnegie Mellon University, delved into the area of advanced manufacturing at a Dean’s Lecture on April 12.

Fedder focused on additive manufacturing, which is also known as 3D printing. He described how advancements in additive manufacturing have democratized the field and opened up new fields of inquiry as we discover the power of customization.

“When you start to have robots work with humans, you can do things that neither can do on their own,” he remarked.
