Dear Alumni,

As our Qatar Alumni Chapter continues to grow, it is now time to elect new officers. You may nominate up to two persons per position and you may choose to nominate yourself.

Please ensure the alum accepts your nomination for the position prior to completing the nomination form.

Nominations will open today and close on March 27, 2017.  Elections will then be held on April 2,

Please remember that your nomination is crucial in selecting our new alumni leaders.  Our vision is to be a world-class alumni organization that sustains and strengthens the lifelong bond between the alumni and the university.

Qatar Alumni Chapter Position Descriptions

President

  • Represent the Qatar chapter at various activities and events
  • Ensure that chapter uses the Alumni Association bylaws as guidelines *
  • Call meetings, set agenda, preside over meetings
  • Serve as primary representative to the Manager of Alumni Relations
  • Nominate other officers, if needed
  • Liaise and be the focal point with the HBKU alumni association
  • Lead alumni group discussions

Vice-President

  • Assist with management of alumni chapter, especially in absence of the president
  • Responsible for initiating new projects & events
  • Attend alumni meetings and assist with alumni group leadership
  • Serve as event manager
  • Focus attention on alumni volunteer recruitment
  • Provide alumni updates for the CMU-Q alumni newsletter ‘The Kilt’ to the Manager of Alumni Relations

Communications Director

  • Work with Manager of Alumni Relations to effectively communicate alumni events and activities to the alumni group **
  • Promote the alumni chapter and events
  • Assist the Manager of Alumni Relations in updating alumni contact information
  • Activate different social and professional communication channels

 

Finance Director

  • Maintain accurate financial records for the alumni chapter
  • Manage billing/payment information that the alumni chapter may undertake
  • Collect any cash payments and accurately record the information
  • Ensure delivery and follow up of purchases / procurements and assets
  • Work with President and Vice president on fundraising activities & events, projections and budgeting

Members at Large will be appointed by the officers to serve the board’s strategic needs as determined by the president at any given time. They may have various responsibilities and projects that could be short or long-term.

In Presence or Absence of Alumni Officer Group Members:

  • In absence of President, Vice President promoted up until end of term
  • In absence of Vice President and other presiding positions, hold nominations and/or elections to fill position
  • In matters of Impeachment, if two or more from Alumni Chapter Officers voice a concern then it is discussed. If unresolved, majority vote will impeach the officer concerned (All mitigated by Manager of Alumni Relations)

* All Qatar Alumni Officers provided with bylaws. Includes handover and initiation with current presiding team to ensure full understanding of laws practiced
