CMU-Q announces Class of 2019 scholars

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar announced the Qatar Campus Scholars and Andrew Carnegie Society Scholars for the Class of 2019.

The four Qatar Campus Scholars are: Aisha Fakhroo, Omar KhattabHaris Syed and Moussa Zekak. The Andrew Carnegie Society (ACS) Scholar is an annual award extended to two CMU-Q graduating seniors, selected from among the Qatar Campus Scholars. Aisha Fakhroo and Moussa Zekak have been chosen as the ACS Scholars for CMU-Q. Fakhroo and Zekak are both from the Biological Sciences Program, and they are the first ACS Scholars from CMU-Q to represent the program.

“These four scholars are selected for more than academic achievement,” said Selma Limam Mansar, senior associate dean for education, “they exemplify leadership, service and dedication to their studies. This is a significant achievement for these students, and we congratulate them and thank them for their hard work.”

The Qatar Campus Scholars are selected for their accomplishments in multiple facets of student life. While all four scholars have excelled in academics, they are also student leaders, energetic volunteers, active participants in campus activities, and passionate pursuers of their own hobbies and interests.

The Andrew Carnegie Society Scholars Program was launched at Carnegie Mellon’s main campus in Pittsburgh in 1975 and has recognized nearly 1,000 students to date. The program recognizes undergraduate seniors for exceptional academic achievement, service and leadership.
