Business administration students earn Refinitiv Eikon certification

Beginning in the summer of 2020 and continuing into the fall semester, CMU-Q launched a program for select students to earn certification in Refinitiv Eikon, a professional-level global stock trading and financial analysis tool. Four students have earned the certification.

Serkan Akguc, assistant teaching professor of finance at CMU-Q, encourages students to use industry-grade tools to gain a deeper, more sophisticated understanding of global finance, the stock markets, and company valuations: “We have students in their first year or two of undergraduate studies who are learning these tools and using them to collect and analyze data. These are skills they can take directly into the workplace.”

Four students have earned their Refinitiv Eikon certification this semester: Jasmine (Siyuan) Guo, Yusufbek Nasriddinov, Ihsane Sadiki and Ravshanbek Salimov. Guo and Salimov were also recognized for passing the certification exam with distinction.

Refinitiv Eikon is one of more than 700 digital databases available through the CMU-Q library. Teresa MacGregor, director of the library at CMU-Q, noted that since the pandemic, accessing information through digital resources has become a critical skill for students. “For complex digital resources like Refinitiv Eikon, a certification program is very helpful for students to learn what information is available, and how to access it quickly and efficiently. These are skills they can take into their careers, particularly if they pursue careers in finance or banking.”
