Abdulbosit Shukhratbekov: Driven to contribute to Qatar’s finance sector

Abdulbosit Shukhratbekov’s time at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is a story of ambition and perseverance. Graduating with a degree in Business Administration, focusing on finance with a minor in economics, Abdulbosit found CMU-Q provided the rigorous environment he sought to achieve his goals in the competitive world of finance.

“The courses were challenging, but the small class sizes meant I could build strong relationships with my professors,” Abdulbosit shared, reflecting on the supportive yet demanding academic atmosphere that pushed him towards excellence.

Abdulbosit has been a dedicated student, earning recognition on the Dean’s List for each semester of his undergraduate studies. He has already completed Level I of the  challenging Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, a certification most candidates pursue after graduation.

“CMU really prepared me well, not just academically, but also through career development support and the opportunity to be a student leader,” he said.

As a leader in the CMU-Q Finance Society, Abdulbosit honed essential skills beyond textbooks, including critical thinking and effective communication. Together with his peers, he explored how students could bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice, and he helped highlight opportunities for fellow students to pursue careers in finance.

Looking ahead, Abdulbosit would like to give back to the country that provided such an exceptional undergraduate education. He aims to pursue a career in Qatar’s rapidly expanding financial sector, potentially through roles in investment banking or portfolio management.

“Looking back, coming to CMU-Q was one of the best decisions. It provided the rigorous education I wanted and opened doors I wouldn’t have had otherwise, especially for finance careers here in Qatar.”
