Postponed: Dean’s Lecture Series: Khalid Al-Subeai

Khalid Al-Subeai, Group Chief Executive Officer of Barwa Bank, will be speaking at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar as part of the Dean’s Lecture Series. His lecture, “The merger of banks and their impact on the national economy” will take place March 10, 2020.

The Dean’s Lecture Series is a forum for prominent industry leaders, government officials and members of the business community to share their expertise on topical issues. The Dean’s Lecture Series has hosted some of the most influential thinkers in Qatar to share ideas and perspectives.

 

About the speaker: 

Khalid Al-Subeai is the Group CEO of Barwa Bank and has been in this role since 2014. Under his leadership, the Group has witnessed robust performance and made tremendous strides including the first merger in the Qatari Banking sector between Barwa Bank and International Bank of Qatar. Prior to this leadership role, Khalid served as CEO of Barwa Bank’s investment banking arm, The First Investor, which he initially joined in 2013.

Before joining Barwa Bank he led Morgan Stanley Qatar, responsible for Qatar Client Coverage and earlier to that was Senior Financial Advisor at Qatar Petroleum (QP) where he was involved in numerous large-scale financing projects. During his six-plus-years with QP’s Project finance team, Khalid was directly involved in the execution of over $15 Bn landmark Debt capital market transactions for QP, its subsidiaries and the State of Qatar.

Khalid graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.
