DOHA: To make people more active by providing one workout session at a time, a new initiative launched by students, TamaRun, promises their customers a healthy-lifestyle.
The Best Company of the Year Award was presented to students of Carnegie Mellon University at a recent Annual Young Enterprise of the Year Competition Mubadara 2018, which was hosted by a non-profit organisation INJAZ Qatar. These students had launched the website named ‘TamaRun’.
The Peninsula met the winners to know more about their project. TamaRun is a platform where all gyms/sport facilities can post all their services from memberships to classes to private training on the website.
The users will be able to find any class or service they want through TamaRun. The website has numerous filters to ease the process for the customer such as private classes or the classes which are being offered nearby.
Maryam Abdullatif AlNaemi, CEO of TamaRun, said: “TamaRun is a platform which encompasses all gym services in Qatar. Our aim is to have a shared platform between the gyms, customers and personal trainers. We assure that our customer can find any class they want whether it is a segregated class or a class that fits their price range. We provide a search engine at the website for the customers to fill in their requirement and our results give them a perfect match.”
Currently in Qatar there are around 400 sport facilities, which do not fulfil the requirements of the customers due to lack of communication.
“TamaRun provides them a platform on which gyms can sign up to post classes and monitor users who register for them. The website will generate analytic for them so that they can better understand their customers such as which classes are most popular and what age group is registering for which classes etc. Personal trainers can sign up, post their profiles and can schedule training sessions with customers. Users can sign up to register for classes and personal training sessions plus the users can search for classes based on price, location, time, and type,” she added.
Talking about the factor that makes TamaRun a unique concept, Latifa Khalid Jaber Al Thani, COO of TamaRun, told The Peninsula: “The factor that makes us unique is that we provide everything to our customer under one platform which is currently not provided by any entity in Doha. We take the bookings and work as a data management system. We are simple and efficient; just a click away.”
“We had a couple for ideas for Annual Young Enterprise of the Year Competition Mubadara 2018 but the one we chose was based on our real life experience, as we were suffering from the same problem as we had the aim but not the direction to follow. The reason we came-up with this unique idea. Anyone who has a struggle, how to and where to go can log in to our website which is totally free of cost and easily get a direction of where to head,” said Maryam Abdullah Al Maadeed, CFO of TamaRun.
