CMU-Q hosts Qatar Red Crescent secretary-general to discuss empowerment strategy
Doha, Qatar: Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, a partner university of Qatar Foundation, hosted Faisal Mohamed Al-Emadi, secretary-general of Qatar Red Crescent, to discuss his organization’s strategy for economic and educational empowerment. The talk was the latest installment in the CMU-Q Dean’s Lecture Series, a forum for community leaders to share their views on the issues that impact society.
Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, thanked the secretary-general for sharing his vision and insights into Qatar Red Crescent’s humanitarian efforts. “We had the honor of hosting Mr. Al-Emadi and hearing Qatar Red Crescent’s efforts to projects, which aim to alleviate the suffering of war and disaster,” he said. “His inspiring lecture informed this community of the many facets of humanitarian aid, and the excellent work Qatar Red Crescent is doing to improve life in the most vulnerable communities.”
Mr. Al-Emadi shared Qatar Red Crescent’s strategy to support the vulnerable on an economic and educational level. This strategy involves meeting the needs of refugees in conflict areas by providing in-kind and material assistance, alongside educational developmental care.
Mr. Al-Emadi said, “I was pleased that Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar provided a platform for us to share our charitable projects, our work, and our local and global development efforts on an economic and educational level,” he explained. “I wish the students success in their academic and professional journey, for they are the ones who will carry the torch of construction and development in the future.”
He also touched upon the environmental dimension of Qatar Red Crescent’s projects, explaining how the organization strives to provide sustainable assistance for communities in need.
The Dean’s Lecture Series hosts industry leaders and senior officials from government institutions, the private sector, humanitarian organizations, and academic circles to share their unique perspectives. The series provides a space for constructive dialogue on various global challenges and plays a vital role in engaging students in the issues facing the world.
