Carnegie Mellon Qatar welcomes admitted students to Marhaba Tartans 2017

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) hosted Marhaba Tartans 2017 on April 20, an opportunity for admitted students and their families to learn more about academic programs, career options, and student life. This year, more than 100 admitted students attended the event.

John O’Brien, associate dean of CMU-Q, formally welcomed the students: “Congratulations to the students who are here tonight, the Class of 2021. Each of you was handpicked for your personal accomplishments. You deserve this honor, and we are very proud that you will be joining our community.”

Dona Ferdinando, a biological sciences freshman, attended the event last year when she was still considering her university options. “Marhaba Tartans is the reason I came to CMU. I met current students who had faced the same decision just a year before, and they were very helpful.” Ferdinando was one of dozens of CMU-Q students who came to Marhaba Tartans 2017 to share their perspectives with the incoming freshmen.
