Q-SmartLab returns to Euromoney Qatar

CMU-Q showcased its Securities Market Analysis Research and Training Lab (Q-SmartLab) at the Euromoney Qatar Conference for the second year in a row. Euromoney, co-hosted by Qatar Central Bank, is a forum for Qatar’s business and government leaders to learn about the latest in Qatar’s financial and economic development.

Developed at Carnegie Mellon Qatar, Q-SmartLab is a tool to manage and visualize big data. At the conference the Q-SmartLab booth demonstrated for the participants live algorithmic trading in the currency markets using real-time prices. One of the major areas of study for the Q-SmartLab is to conduct research into and explore relationships between algorithmic trading and deep learning.

Q-SmartLab was created by John O’Brien, associate dean, Fuad Farooqi, assistant teaching professor of finance, and Zeeshan Hanif, Q-SmartLab manager and researcher.
