CMU-Q connects students, organizations at Careers Platform event

DOHA, QATAR: Nearly 50 local, regional and international organizations attended CMU-Q’s Careers Platform on March 28, an event where students could network with potential employers.

Carnegie Mellon holds different career-related workshops throughout the year to help develop students’ job-seeking skills, including resume-writing and interviewing. At Careers Platform, students are encouraged to approach representatives in a casual setting to learn more about the organization and the types of skills they seek.

“Networking is a crucial skill for our students, particularly if they work in the Middle East where there is a high value placed on personal relationships. We thank the organizations who came to Careers Platform to meet our students and learn more about the programs we offer at Carnegie Mellon Qatar,” said Ilker Baybars, dean and CEO of CMU-Q.

Several sectors were represented, including management consulting, food and drink, consumer goods, telecommunications, energy, and finance.

In February, CMU-Q collaborated with other Education City universities for the HBKU Career Fair, a formal opportunity for students to apply for positions in local organizations.
