Carnegie Mellon alumna and world-famous soprano to perform live at Carnegie Mellon Qatar

DOHA, QATAR – Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is hosting Nicole Taylor, world-famous soprano and Daniel Ernst, concert pianist, this Thursday February 9, at the university’s campus in Education City at 6 pm. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will then be followed by a question-and-answer session and a light reception. Taylor and Ernst are both graduates of the internationally renowned College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University.

The multi award-winning soprano and a Carnegie Mellon Scholarship recipient is here in Doha to recognize and celebrate African-American History Month, and to perform some of the world-renowned classic African-American spirituals by American composers such as Gershwin and Copeland, as well as folk songs.

In addition to studying at Carnegie Mellon, the American soprano is a graduate of the masters program at the Juilliard School in New York City. Ms. Taylor has performed a variety of roles in a number of renowned operas and won several musical awards and came in first place at national and international competitions. She is a recipient of the University Fellowship, Carnegie Mellon University Scholarship, and BEEM Foundation for the Advancement of Music Scholarship, as well as a professional studies grant from the Pittsburgh Foundation. Daniel Ernst is a graduate of fine arts in piano performance from Carnegie Mellon University. He studied piano under Enrique Graf and Earl Wild and obtained a certificate in piano pedagogy under the tutelage of Hanna Li. Ernst became a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State in 2001.
