CMU-Q World Cup 2022 Operations Guide
From November 20 to December 18, Qatar is hosting the World Cup, the largest sporting event in the world. Qatar is expecting more than one million visitors during the World Cup, and matches will be played in eight stadiums, including one in Education City (EC).
Although the fall semester will be finished, CMU-Q operations will continue throughout the World Cup. Services will be limited on match days, with restricted access to Education City and CMU-Q.
Education City Match Days
Matches will be held in the Education City Stadium on the following days:
- November 22, 24, 26, 28, 30
- December 2, 6 , 9
On match days, the building will be closed to all but essential staff and Education City restrictions on gate access, transportation, and parking will be in effect. Education City-wide lockdowns of vehicular movement begins six hours before each kickoff and ends three hours after the match.
No Match Days in Education City
On days when there are no Education City Stadium matches, the building will be open to CMU-Q community members and escorted visitors. City-wide traffic restrictions may affect commutes.
The CMU-Q building was designed by the renowned architecture firm LEGORRETA + LEGORRETA, and contains beautiful spaces where our community members gather to learn, study and celebrate together.
