Computer Networks

Computer networks are systems where computers connected to each other to allow data to be transferred and shared to a number of people, depending on the size of the network. Copper cables have been used in networking cables but their bandwidths is very limited, which is why at this point in time, optical fiber cables are being used and installed by many countries worldwide. Accessing networks by analog limits the bandwidth significantly, which is why after dial-up, networking cables used digital frequencies. The bandwidth limit is seen as big issue regarding the internet and local area networks, which is developing rapidly during these times. Network security is also an issue which passwords and proxies are used to protect it.

The internet is basically a global network, consisting of smaller networks connected to each other. The network cables are made up of copper telephone wires, which were put into place in the late 19th century and more widely in the early 20th. Submarine communications cables were also put into place in the 1800s, to network between continents, allowing a real global network. An internet protocol address also known as IP address, is assigned to individual computers on a network which are used to identify separate computers.
