Freshmen Orientation
From StudentOrganization
Weee! Freshmen! Each year Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar holds a freshman orientation for 4-5 days that involve introduction to university life, social and fun activities, lectures and outings. Each year, the orientation team is responsible for the planning and implementation of the whole orientation. The Student Affairs guides the HOC's but they are not directly involved in the organization. Thus, it is an experience by the students for the students!

New Development: As we never rest on our laurels, we had taken our orientation recruitment a step further. Following is a breakdown of our tasks:
- This year's theme will be intertwined with the completion of our own permanent campus building, giving it a sense of completing the journey of the nomads that have moved from place to place.
- We had "secretly" recorded most of our applicants and compiled a nice video that was played back at the retreat. it was a chance for the team to see how people went beyond their personality to be part of the orientation team.
- During the interviews, we had asked a range of "behavioral" questions and illicit responses that challenged us to do something different and remind people about their experiences. Thus, we shopped around Doha for items that related to the responses and randomly distributed them among the team. They were tasked to bring it to the retreat, and their first job was to match them up to their intended owner.
