What is the Summer College Preview Program?

The SCPP is an opportunity for students from Qatar to visit our campus and put their skills to the test within a community of other bright young scholars. You will work hard, but you will also learn about different career paths, experience the excitement of campus life and challenge yourself to meet the high standards of Carnegie Mellon University.

The ultimate preparation for university

The difference between secondary school and college expectations will become clear when you attend the SCPP.  You will find the courses more fast-paced, and you will be exposed to the challenge of college-level math and writing.  And you will experience project work, which is a hallmark of Carnegie Mellon. This hands-on project will allow you to explore your chosen area of interest.

At SCPP, you will understand the importance of prompt and regular class attendance, taking notes in lectures and accepting a greater responsibility for your learning.  The program includes workshops on how to become a master student by learning to set goals, manage time effectively and be a more competitive candidate in the college admissions process.

Are you ready to see your potential?

This is a program for a very special group of young men and women. If you are currently in year 10 (sophomore) or year 11 (junior), we urge you to apply for the SCPP and if accepted, make the most of the experience. If you’re like most of the students who participate, you’ll return to high school energized and confident in your ability to work hard to be accepted at the university of your choice.

How to apply

It is important that you read this page before you start your application.  There are required essays that you will want to write before you go to the application page.

Only students who are currently in year 10 (sophomore) or year 11 (junior) can apply.  Applications submitted without essays will not be accepted.
