Education City ILL Procedures and Policies
A- Definition, Scope & Application
Inter-Library Loan (ILL) is a service provided by Education City libraries that allows students, faculty and staff affiliated with one institution to borrow materials from another institution. ILL requests are processed by the user’s home library and the materials are loaned to the library rather than directly to the user.
The borrowing library is responsible for all the books loaned to users affiliated with its institution and is responsible for the collection and the timely return of all items.
Individuals not affiliated with Education City institutions fall under the generic category of “public patrons”. If they wish to borrow materials from an Education City branch campus library, they should send their request(s) to the concerned library director or manager. Each branch campus library maintains its own policy on use of its print collections and its services to members of the general public.
As a matter of principle, it is accepted that the current policy deals only with transactions related to physical items, NOT to the access and use of licensed electronic resources.
