Hyatt Plaza
From Alhannah
Hyatt Plaza is one of Doha's many malls. It houses the Giant grocery store and several other stores and restaurants. It is perhaps most notable for the enormous statue of a shopping cart in the parking lot.
Giant offers good prices, but the selection is perhaps more restricted than some of the other big hypermarkets. Good for produce -- don't miss the Lebanese tomatoes.
There is a store at Hyatt (and Royal Plaza, a mall on Al Sadd) called Roots, which sells clothes from The Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic.
Filipino food, something of a rarity, is available at Orient Express.
Hyatt Plaza includes Doha's branch of Daiso, the Japanese bargain store. Most items cost 6 riyals. The inventory includes some delightful items for Japanophiles.
The huge new Carrefour next to the Hyatt Plaza is also now open.
