Doha English Speaking School
From Alhannah
Doha English Speaking School is a British institution, providing years 1-6 of an English-style education. It is one of the oldest expat-oriented schools in the area, having opened in 1971. In one of the hallways there are several pictures of a much younger Queen Elizabeth II presiding over the opening ceremonies. The school has close ties with the British embassy, and serves as the physical plant for the local Anglican parish.
To get to DESS from campus, go straight at the Sloped Roundabout and keep going under the D-Ring overpass. Turn right at the first roundabout (often called the TV roundabout); then turn left at the first roundabout. DESS is the compound with blue-topped buildings that you'll see ahead on your right. To get to the entrance, drive past the compound and turn right on the next cross-street; the gate is halfway down on your right. You can no longer park right outside the gate, however, so you'll probably have to find parking on a side street.
