Doha’s Corniche

The picturesque palm tree-lined Corniche is a place to enjoy the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf and fresh air. Walking and jogging are common activities on this promenade and there is a small café near the Sheraton Hotel (North end).

Qatar Museum of Islamic Art

Opened in December 2008, this museum was designed by I.M. Pei, a renowned architect and designer of the Louvre Pyramid in Paris. The museum is located on the Corniche and showcases Islamic objects and artifacts. www.mia.org.qa

Gold Souq

The gold market is located behind the Al Fardan Centre, just off Grand Hamad Street. There you will find beautiful 18 – 22 carat gold pieces. Gold is priced according to the weight of the gold on the day’s market.

Souq Waqif

Spend time browsing the many alleyways and shops of this traditional Qatari market. Enjoy the falcon shops, spices, dried fruits and nuts and Arabic Oud (traditional incense). Souq Waqif is open from 10am – 12pm and 4pm -10pm
