Student Employment

Many students at Carnegie Mellon University
in Qatar wish to gain employment experience before graduating.

One way in which students can prepare for the world of employment is through the Work-Study Program on campus. It offers students an opportunity to contribute to the work of a dynamic institution and to earn money while doing so. Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar works with Qatar Foundation to help students secure full-time employment or internships through the following means:

  • By establishing relationships between Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and the business and industrial sectors in Qatar.
  • By maintaining an updated listing of employment and internship opportunities.
  • By conducting employment workshops to provide advice and practice in preparing resumes, interviewing etc.
  • By creating and maintaining a resource center in collaboration with the branch campuses.
  • By planning in coordination with the branch campuses career development activities, such as employer visits to Education City and career and job fairs.

Current Student Employees

Please submit them to Rachelle Emard in her office (1094) by 5:00pm.
The new timecard format [QF Work Study Time Sheet CMUQ_0.pdf], will automatically calculate your hours. The old format is also available here [QF Work Study Time Sheet_0.doc].

Also, please be reminded of the following timecard procedures:

  • Your “start date” is the first date that you are recording on this particular time sheet (not the date that you started your job).
  • You and your supervisor must BOTH sign your time sheet.
  • Please submit hours in 15 minute (.25/hours) increments. For example, if you worked until 6:07, put 6:00pm on your time sheet. If you work until 6:08, you can put until 6:15.
  • Please turn in only one sheet at a time. If any part of your time card, including the signature, is going to go onto a second page, please split up the sheets so that you are turning separate sheets into me that only have information on the front.
